Cairngorms

If you’re a nature lover at heart, come and explore one of Scotland’s most famous national parks – the Cairngorms.

Carrbridge is the Northern gateway to Cairngorms National Park.

This puts you right alongside some of the most beautiful scenery and wildlife in Scotland.

Home to five of the six highest mountains in Scotland as well as many rare plants, birds and animals, it’s a popular place to visit for avid walkers, bird watchers and animal lovers.

Highland Wildlife Park

If you want to experience the stunning nature and wildlife of the Cairngorms but don’t want to end up carrying the kids on those long walks, maybe the Highland Wildlife Park – located within the Cairngorms – will suit you better.

This 260-acre safari park and zoo is run by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland. It is only about a 30 minute drive from Carrbridge.

You’ll be amazed at the variety of animals on show. Species that have wandered mountainous regions all over the world for thousands of years are on show here.

Visitors to the park drive around the Main Reserve before moving on to the walk-around area.

Loch Morlich

This clear as glass freshwater loch sits pride of place at the foot of the Cairngorms.

With award-winning sandy beaches forming its shoreline, Loch Morlick also hosts a water sports centre and a yacht club.

Making the short drive to visit this gorgeous sandy bay will be well worth it. Spending the day here is one of the most relaxing things to do in Carrbridge and is a personal favourite.

The site is perfect for enjoying water sports and lochside forest walks, offering the most sensational views of the snowy peaks of the northern Cairngorms.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park

Take a heart-pounding ride on a family-friendly roller coaster or on any of the three amazing water coasters.

Step into a tropical hot-house, a wonderland of colour with hundreds of utterly stunning butterflies and beautiful exotic flowers.

How about taking a trip back in time to the Dinosaur Kingdom, Scotland’s most exciting Jurassic experience where the larger than life dinosaurs roar as you walk among them.

Sluggan Bridge

There’s more than one beautiful old bridge in Carrbridge!

Sluggan Bridge forms an arc over the River Dulnain and was built to replace the two-arched bridge built by George Wade, which was washed away by the floods of 1829.

Despite being a newer build than many other stone bridges, Sluggan Bridge has a classic, old fashioned appearance which makes it an ideal place to take pictures and enjoy a picnic.

Carrbridge Artisans Craft Shop

Stocked by local artists and craftspeople, this quaint shop located on Carrbridge’s main street offers wonderful sculptures, ceramics, jewellery, pottery and paintings.
